Positons open starting June 2009:
Grant Writer: BGET is currently seeking a volunteer with experience and desire to assist with grant writing. While one of BGET’s goals is to function independently financially, the success of many of our current projects are dependent on generous donations from local, national, and international sources.
Business Intern: BGET seeks methods to become more independent of outside funding sources while still providing the same level of commitment to humanitarian assistance through appropriate technology solutions. A creative minded individual is sought to assist in this transition.
Appropriate Technologist: BGET aims to provide the proper technological solutions for various situations encountered along the Thai/Burma border. A successful volunteer will be comfortable learning new skills from others as well as transferring knowledge.
Agroforestry Volunteer: BGET is in the early stages of establishing a demonstration site for the various appropriate
technologies that are suitable for life along the Thai/Burma border. One of the focus areas of
this site will be renewable energy technologies currently utilized by BGET including solar
electric, solar hot water, biogas, and solar cooking. Additional focus will be placed on
sustainable building and agriculture. The agroforestry volunteer will work with BGET staff to
establish a functioning food forest with emphasis on techniques applicable to migrant schools,
refugee camps, and Thai/Karen villages. This volunteer may be asked to live part time or full
